Kakching, November 29 2022:
Informing that the 6 km long PMGSY road from Phundrei/Langathel junction in Thoubal district to Lamlong Khullen under Tengnoupal district has been left incomplete for the last two years after blacktopping in some areas, villagers of Lamlong Khullen and Lamlong Christian villages have urged the government to complete the road at the earliest.
Speaking in a press conference cohosted by Lamlong Khullen village authority and Lamlong Christian village authority at Lamlong Christian village community hall on Monday, Lamlong Khullen village authority chairman DK Modest informed that the work order for construction of the inter-village road was issued in 2018, but the construction work began in 2020.After blacktopping around one kilometre of the road, construction of the remaining road was stopped after simply laying the gravels.
In the meantime, the contractors changed the signboard which initially inscribed 2018 as beginning of the construction work to 2020, he alleged, while condemning such arbitrary change in the signboard.
Urging authorities concerned to look into the matter and complete blacktopping of the road at the earliest; he demanded punishment of the contractors who had withdrawn the work bill but failed to complete the assigned task.
