Senapati, November 29 2022:
Relay hunger strike of All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) continued at District Hospital, Senapati on Tuesday.
The relay hunger strike of AMHSDA started on November 26 and has been organised in different districts of the state.
Addressing media persons, Senapati district leprosy officer Dr Ngouniba Peter stated that it was the third form of agitation launched by the doctors under AMHSDA.
The government doctors first began their agitation by wearing of black badges from November 1 and it was followed by sit-in protest and relay hunger strike from November 26 to demand eight legitimate rights of the doctors to the government, he added.
Dr Ngouniba Peter called it very unfortunate that the government has not paid any heed and has not taken any concrete action regarding their demands.
Mentioning that the government has declared medical services as essential, he urged the government to con sider their demands also as essential.
The doctors under the Association should not be pressed to resort to more intense agitations, he said and urged the government to give serious consideration to their demands and fulfil them at the earliest possible time.
Similar agitations were also reportedly held in Ukhrul and Jiribam districts on Tuesday.
