Imphal, November 29 2022:
Even as Michael Learns to Rock's performance at HVS Ground today is expected to attract a huge crowd of fans, Indian singer Ananya Birla, who is opening the night, has expressed her admiration for Manipuri folk music.
Enchanted by the sound of the Pena instrument, Ananya said she wants to work with Manipuri artists and possibly infuse the State's folk music with her style.
At the HVS Complex, Patsoi, the singer said that she visited Langthabal Old Palace this afternoon and found the Pena instrument very cool and interesting.
"This kind of music should be in our music.
The world needs to listen to such beautiful sounds," she said, adding that this will also broaden the sphere of songs and give opportunity to many talented and budding artists.
Ananya said she is ready to collaborate with Manipuri artists and she can be contacted if they find the idea interesting.
"I am very proud of Indian musical instruments," she said, adding many of her works have lots of "Indian sound".
"Any kind of music can be mixed up if done right".
Many nicer things will come up when there is more collaboration, Ananya said enthusiastically, expressing that she feels like she is in a candy store whenever she sees and hears new forms of music and culture.
She opined that when people from other parts of the world hear or listen to Indian music they would appreciate it and love it.
The Indian singer whose five singles have achieved platinum status and has collaborated with the likes of Sean Kingston, Afrojack and Mood Melodies said that the world is huge and everyone can make a mark on it.
Experiencing the Manipuri culture and new music and instruments has impressed her, she said.
"I am getting lots of love from the people of Manipur and I want to make the people of Imphal and Manipur know that I am so grateful for their love.
I want to give them justice," Ananya said, adding she would entertain the audience and have a good time.
"I want to leave a very strong and positive impact and connect with the audience and the people of Manipur through music".
She also expressed gratitude to MLTR for allowing her to open the mega concert.
MLTR's music is timeless and never gets old.
she said.
When asked about her songs.
Ananya said she has written around 33 songs so far and many of the lyrics are genuinely related to some of her past memories and moments in life.
All singers should believe in the power of music and must work hard keeping in mind that everyone has their own journey and audience.
She said she is happy that the people of the North East region are fond of English songs.
Significantly, there were crowds of people pouring in from all directions much before the MLTR night began at the HVS Ground.
