Bodies resolved to protect native lands

A meeting of Senapati District Naga Area Core Committee and Federation of Hao-mee held at Thangal General Ecological Park, Mayangkhang on Friday with the participation of leaders of various CSOs resolved to protect lands of the indigenous communities from being occupied by non-native people.
In a release, Federation of Haomee informed that the meeting deliberated on the issues related to ceaseless influx of non-Manipuris in several parts of the state as continuation of the said trend will ultimately leave no land for the indigenous people in the near future.
The meeting also attended by chiefs of Tumuyon Khullen, Kajanga, M Ningthoupham, Mayangkhang, Mayangkhang Khunou, Maremei and Takaimei villages resolved to extend support in protecting the native lands and to urge authorities concerned to include the seven villages under Senapati district after the delimitation exercise.
Those gathering also decided to extend all-out support to Federation of Hoamee in its initiative to uphold rights of the indigenes as well as to expose and check misdemeanours of non-native people, the release added.
