MLA Paolienlal Haokip opens CFC Sielmat

Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip opened a Common Facility Centre, which was constructed with support from the ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India at Sielmat in Churachandpur district on Friday.
Paolienlal carried out the ground breaking opening of the MSME Common Facility Centre (CFC), Sielmat by digging the soil after the formal opening function.
Speaking at the opening function, MLA Paolienlal Haokip said that the state has huge potential for organic food production as its land and forest are filled with limitless spices.
Organic turmeric and ginger have huge market as there is none who does not consume the products, he said and assured of extending all possible assistance for success of the project.
He further said that CFC Sielmat will have 523 farmers from clusters like Saidan cluster, Muolvaiphei cluster, Saikot cluster, Muolbem cluster, Daijang cluster, Geljang cluster and Langza cluster.
The main focus will be production of turmeric and ginger Mid value addition of the products, he added.
In her keynote address, CFC Sielmat functionary Loicy Tusing said that the farmers who are producing turmeric and ginger have no option but to sale their produces in raw with very minimal profit due to lack of processing facility for value addition.
She said that value addition and market linkage are important for fetching better returns for products.
The aim and objective of the project is to train farmers in techniques of organic farming in eco-friendly manner so as to achieve results consistently and scientifically.
Another objective of the project is to establish strong market linkage to provide business platform to farmers as organic products fetch premium prices in the market, she added.
According to Loicy Tusing, the CFC Sielmat has been introduced to offer all sort of support like common production or processing centre for balancing, correcting, improving production line that cannot be undertaken by individual units.
