Imphal, November 19 2022:
The 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was observed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at the party's office, here, on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, CLP leader O Ibobi recalled that former PM Indira Gandhi was a leader who worked to unite the country and as such event after death, her contributions continued to be remembered by the country on Quami Ekta Diwas.
Although India had different organisations with their own diverse objectives, Indira Gandhi accepted this nature provided none of them are anti-national; while also "taking care of" anti-national organisations at the same times.
She ensured that the Mizo National Front give up their separatist agenda and brought about a peaceful Mizoram state, as we now know it.
However, she was killed by her own bodyguard.
As such, her birth anniversary is observed every year to remember her efforts towards bringing integration in the country, he conveyed.
As part of the observance, O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra and others offered floral tributes to the portrait of the former PM.
CWC member Gaikhangam and other Congress MLAs also attended the observance.
