44 AR organises Covid vaccination camp and plantation drive

Kangpokpi, July 14 2021:
44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector/IGAR (East) in collaboration with State Health and Forest Department, local Covid Task Force and community leaders of Makui village in Kangpokpi District launched two day wellness and covid vaccination icamp cum tree plantation drive as "SEHAT KA AMRUT" today.
This shall bring the vaccine and medical check up Near to Home in the remotest areas of the district with an aim to provide free vaccine to senior citizens and residents of remote rural areas who have limited mobility due to physical and connectivity problems.
Side by side it is aimed at spreading the message of environment conservation and preservation to the people.
The wellness and covid vaccination camp cum tree plantation drive was inaugurated by Awangbow Newmai, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change and Commandant of 44 Assam Rifles.
The Minister urged the public to get vaccinated, wear mask and follow Covid protocols to contribute towards fight against COVID-19.Interacting with the beneficiaries of the medical camp, he assured them all the support of State Govt to fight the ongoing pandemic.
He also expressed his concern over significant reduction in the size of forest cover in the hill districts and stressed on the need to spread awareness about wildlife conservation to children and youth who are the future citizens.
He also lauded the efforts of 44 Assam Rifles, towards its focus on Green Earth initiative.
The Minister along with Commandant, 44 Assam Rifles were joined by Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman of ADC Tamenglong, Chinpilhing Kipgen, DFO, Kangpokpi, Machundou, president of LNC, N Silakbou, chairman of Makui Village Authority and R Dikhampibou, Pastor of Makui Baptist Church in planting a plant of hope on the sidelines of the ongoing wellness camp in the village.
The participants were administered a 'Green Pledge' to ensure wholehearted efforts for restoration of the environment and carryout afforestation to slow down the global climate crisis for preservation of earth.
The event witnessed jawans and locals planting 1500 fresh saplings in the Makui village.
