Put up vaccination certificate or shut shop: Valte

Tribal Affairs Minister Vungzagin Valte has said that shopkeepers and drivers should display their vaccination certificates at a prominent place in the shop or vehicles and those who do not want to display their certificates should stop their services.
The Minister said this while attending a meeting related to public transportation and conveyance in the districts of Churachandpur and Pherzawl at DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Churachandpur today and warned that appropriate actions will be taken against those drivers and shopkeepers who do not comply.
After the meeting, the Minister said a special vaccination drive for drivers and shopkeepers will commence from tomorrow and will continue till July 28 and added that mass vaccination of the drivers and shopkeepers has emerged as the only defence against COVID-19 and vaccinated drivers and shopkeepers means greater safety for the public.

To facilitate the vaccination drive for shopkeepers and drivers, the Minister urged representatives from different transport associations to submit the complete list of persons to the CMO or DC Office.
He also instructed the district administration to arrange fixed vaccination venues for the drivers and shopkeepers.
The District Administration said that they have faced resistance from some villages within the district, but the team has been able to continue achieving more than 1000 vaccinations per day.
The districts of Churachandpur and Pherzawl have so far vaccinated 78303 and 10142 persons respectively of which about 200 are drivers.
Pawan Yadav, DC; Thangboi Gangte ADC; Khaikhopau Ngaihte ADC; Lawrence K Munluo, ASP; presidents and secretaries of transport associations and DLOs from the concerned departments attended the meeting.
