Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has said that we should learn hard lessons from outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic to face any serious health crisis in the future.
Speaking as chief guest at the 3x3 Epidemiology Workshop for Public Health Workforce organised by National Centre for Disease Control, Centre for Disease Control & Prevention and World Health Organisation (WHO), India as part of National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur's Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong on Tuesday, Dr S Ranjan stressed that frontline workers have a huge role to play during a pandemic as they have to nnd all about its cause and save lives in time.
He also pointed out that during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic, the country was affected severely, but gradually with the sincere efforts of the field workers and dedicated medical staff, the situation could be brought under control.
Stating that Manipur is changing for the better, Dr S Ranjan maintained that a positive change can be seen in the recent past in the state as well as in the entire North Eastern region.
While commending untiring efforts of chief minister N Biren to expedite development of the state, he contended that Manipur being a border state was neglected by the centre for many years.
However, various development programmes have been taken up in the state of late and the people have a free mind.
This implies that the state is marching ahead, he added.
The minister maintained that the state has improved in many sectors during the past few years under the able leadership of CM N Biren.
The road connectivity, telecommunication system, tourism prospects, law and order, health system, etc., have been improved.
The uniqueness of the state is also attracting tourists and infrastructures developed for exploring the beauty of the state by tourists, he claimed.
Health Services director general Dr Atul Goel, who also attended the event, pointed out that in the field of health, only identity card will not do anything, one must go directly in the held to know about diseases and their treatments.
It is necessary that training on epidemics should be provided to medical workers posted in remote areas of the country.
Let's all work for a healthy nation, he exhorted.
Additional chief secretary V Vumlunmang; Health Services, Manipur director Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang and NHM, Manipur state mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam also attended the event.
