Manipur team leaves for Bangladesh to participate in Bishgaon Festival 2023

Imphal, January 17 2023:
A team of artists set to represent Manipur in the Bishgaon Festival 2023 slated to be held on January 20 at Abadgaon, Gazipur, Habigonj in Bangladesh, have left Imphal for Bangladesh today.
Imphal West SP, Ksh Shivakanta; M Dhananjoy, general secretary, Apunba Manipuri Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) and renowned Manipuri singer Naba Volcano flagged off the Manipur team from Imphal airport.
Speaking in this connection, Arya Sapam, Coordinator, Blue Band (music band) has stated that the participation of the Manipuri team in the Bishgaon Festival will bring Manipuris of Manipur and those who have settled in Bangladesh closer.
He went on to say that Blue Band had decided to partake in the festival to demonstrate the art and culture of Manipur with the help of many well-known singers of the State by presenting a stellar show at the festival.
He also sought the support of everyone in their endeavour.
Aside from Blue Band, many other notable singers of the State are set to participate in the festival including Arbin Soibam, AJ Meisnam, AK Yangoi, Kennedy Khuman, Surma Chanu, Huidrom Pushparani, Jenna Khumanthem and Kabira.
It may be noted that Bishgaon Festival was held for the first time in 2020 and after a hiatus of roughly two years due to the pandemic, this upcoming event marks the second edition of the festival.
Reportedly, Bishgaon was the first village where the Manipuris who first arrived in Bangladesh settled in.
