One more arrested in NIA raid

Imphal, January 17 2023:
In continuation of the crackdown against extortion module related with some UG organisations, sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted another raid on Myanmar side close to Moreh border town and arrested one individual.
The raid began from 8 pm Monday and continued till the wee hours of Tuesday.
The arrested individual has been identified as S Bruce.
He was arrested on the charge of carrying out extortion activities for a UG group.
The NIA team seized several incriminating documents, laptop and mobile phones from the possession of Bruce, who has been here on Tuesday.
According to an official of NIA, they will continue the raid as there are reports of some government departments and bank officials involved in money laundering in favour of some UG groups.
The official also expressed confidence that they will get hold of hard evidences so as to book some of them during further raids.
Mention may be made here that NIA arrested four people during its earlier raid in Moreh on January 14.More than Rs 30 lakh was seized during the raid.
NIA source earlier said that banks and other funding syndicates in Moreh and Imphal are under its radar as crores of rupees were collected through extortion via this channel by UG organisations.
