Awareness / demo on Thang-Ta held

Thang-Ta Observation Committee, under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Culture Society (KIMACS), organised one day awareness cum demonstration programme on Thang-Ta at ACHIPPA Thang-Ta Sindam Shang branch office located at Pukhao on Sunday.
The programme was organised as part of the month-long Thang-Ta Day celebration which is being held under the theme 'Thang-Ta for an ethical way of living', from October 16.The observance will culminate on November 15, the Thang-Ta Day as announced by titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba in 2018.According to a statement of the committee, Sunday's programme was attended by KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajitkumar Mangang, Committee chairman Leitanthem Dhamendro Meitei, co-convenor Brahmacharimayum Bilky Sharma and Pukhao Laipham VDC president Taorem Manglemjao Singh as members of the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, B Bilky underscored the importance of good character and moral behaviour.
As many of the indigenous traditions, that used to uphold and bind together the social fabric, are no longer in existence, the society is degrading gradually, he said while stressing the need for educating the younger generations in this regard.
He also spoke on the potential of Thang-Ta in re-introduc-ing the lost social behaviour and norms in order to lead an ethical way of living and to bring development in the society as well.
