CM Biren launches Alliance Air's Imphal-Aizawl service

Chief minister N Biren on Sunday launched the Alliance Air Flight between Imphal and Aizawl through video conferencing at the conference hall of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, here.
Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, MoCA minister of state Gen VK Singh (retd), law & justice minister Kiren Rijiju, chief ministers of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram tourism minister Robert Romawia Royte were present at the virtual launch event.
Alliance Air CEO Vineet Sood handed over the boarding pass to union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and VK Singh.
Appreciating the initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister N Biren Singh said that the promise made by the Prime Minister to the people of the North East has not only been translated into action in connectivity but also in various sectors.
He added that North East, the new engine of India's growth, has now gaining momentum.
While reflecting on the speech of the Mizoram chief minister regarding isolation of the latter's state due to non-availability of aerial connectivity, Biren said that the long-awaited dream of the people of Manipur and Mizoram has been realised on Sunday.
He also expressed that joining Imphal-Aizawl-Imphal five times a week will tremendously improve not only connectivity on business line but also increase the attachment between the communities of the two states.
The chief minister further added that the launching of airlines from Assam (Lilabari) to Arunachal Pradesh (Ziro)-Lilabari-Ziro-Lilabari under the Ministry of Civil Aviation will bring closer the Northeastern states.
Noting problems faced by the people of Manipur due to the sudden drop of direct flight of Indigo on Saturday and Sunday from Imphal to Delhi, chief minister Biren requested the civil aviation minister to take up necessary steps with the airlines concerned to resume the aerial connectivity.
Later, civil aviation minister and MoCA led the parallel flag-off ceremony from Assam (Lilabari-Ziro-Lilabari & Shillong-Lilabari-Shillong), Meghalaya (Shillong - Lilabari - Shillong), Manipur (Imphal-Aizawl-Imphal), Mizoram (Aizawl-Imphal-Aizawl) and Arunachal Pradesh (Lilabari-Ziro-Lilabari).
Among others, minister of state for external affairs & education Dr RK Ranjan Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, transport minister Khasim Vashum and officials of civil aviation attended the launch programme at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
