Cheitheng at Germany

A 15-member team of 'The Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory' is all set to perform their play "Cheitheng" at the 37th International Pantomime Theatre Festival to be held in Germany from November 2 to 6 .
Notably, the 15-member team led by Dr Yumnam Sadananda Singh will be representing India at the festival.
The team will leave for Germany on November 1, said a statement of the Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory.
Meanwhile, the statement read that it had originally planned to send a 17-member team to the festival, however due to financial restraints it was forced to send only 15 members.
While the cost of flight tickets for 10 members was borne by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the cost of the tickets of the other 5 members was borne by the Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory members.
Flight tickets of the 5 members and their VISA application costs them around Rs 10 lakh, it said .
Anticipating a reimbursement, the State Art and Culture Department has been asked for financial assistance under the CMAT (Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang) Scheme, said the Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory.
About the play the team will be performing at the festival, it said "Cheitheng" is based on the story of Shravan Kumar in the Ramayana.
Earlier, "Cheitheng" has also been performed at mime festivals in South Korea and Greece.
France, Spain, Czech Republic, Germany and India will be participating in the festival in Germany, it said, asking people to bless the team in bringing laurels for Manipur.
