Clean India 2.0 campaign concludes in Bishnupur

The month-long Clean India 2.0 campaign concluded today for Bishnupur district at Sunusiphai Market Shed.
The closing ceremony was jointly organised by District Administration Bishnupur; Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bishnupur and Sunusiphai Ideal Club.
It was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Lourembam Bikram; Haobijam Sumanta Singh, vice president Sunusiphai Ideal Club; Oinam Joychandra Singh, Member, Thinungei Zilla Parishad; L Manikanta Singh, CEO Zilla Parishad, Bishnupur; L Rishikanta, BDO Moirang and Indira Oinam, co-convenor Samvardhinee Nyas, Manipur Prant as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Salam Dhanachandra Singh, Deputy Director, NYK Bishnupur stated that about 4360 Kg of plastic waste has been collected in the district as against the target of 4000 Kg .
"The achievement is possible through the active and voluntary participation of about 40 local clubs of the district", said the Deputy Director while urging the public to continue the noble deeds even beyond the campaign timeline.
Lourembam Bikram maintained that Bishnupur needs to create good impressions on cleanliness as the district attracts a lot of tourists and VIPs.
Clarifying that the Solid Waste Management site is not the same as dumping site as assumed and alleged, the DC appealed to the public and CSOs to cooperate in the vision of the District Administration in transforming the district into a Green Bishnupur.
Later, the DC also administered a Unity Pledge to the participants.
Village elders, residents, leaders of different local clubs, NYK volunteers among others attended the closing ceremony.
