State level Amateur Muay Thai Championship 2022 : YAS Minister warns to deregister sports associations in factional disputes

Imphal, October 30 2022:
While noting the ill effects of factionalism among sports bodies upon athletes, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam has warned factions in dispute to unite as one body.
He made the statement while attending the inaugural programme of one day MAMTA (Manipur Amateur Muay Thai Association) State level Amateur Muay Thai Championship 2022 organised by the Bishnupur District Muay Thai Association at Bishnupur Municipal Council Ward No 2 as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, The Minister said that efforts are being made to make sure that there is one apex governing body of each sports discipline and also warned to deregister sports bodies which are embroiled in factional disputes to ensure the careers of athletes are not wasted.

He also announced that a Government order will come out within the month of November notifying that all sports associations embroiled in factional disputes are deregistered and special arrangements will be placed to look after the athletes and other affairs.
MAMTA president Dr TM Rajen Ayangba; AMFA's vice president Ch Ibotombi among others also attended the inaugural programme as dignitaries.
More than 60 athletes competed for top honours in the senior, junior and sub junior events.
