Lamphel SDO calls for an end to crimes against women
LEWA organises Ningol Chakkouba feast

Lamphel SDO Md Imran Khan has appealed to bring meaning to the festival of Ningol Chakkouba by putting a stop to all manners of crime and abuse inflicted upon women at large.
He was speaking at the Ningol Chakkouba celebration organised by Lamphel SDO and SDC Office at Imphal West DC Complex yesterday.
Extending warm greetings to the women folk of the State on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, he highlighted the wholesomeness of the festival which is based on the love between brothers and sisters.
As this festival carries the message of honouring women and treating them with kindness, respect and love, it is time to eliminate all abuses and crimes committed against women in the spirit of this festival, he said.
The celebration witnessed the office staff coming together to share a meal alongwith the presentation of simple gifts to the female staff.
Separately, Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA) Lamding Thoubal organised a Ningol Chakkouba feast for womenfolk of other communities who had married Meitei men at the Club's volleyball ground today.
In a statement, LEWA shared that the celebration was attended by Naga, Kuki, Maring and Nepali women.
Romen Meitei, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee was also present at the event, the statement added.
