Imphal, October 30 2022:
Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), under the aegis of Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, has started despatch of organic Kiwi grown in Manipur for sale in Bihar's Patna and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
The first batch of organic Kiwi consignment weighing 1.5 metric tonne was flagged off from Imphal international airport by MOMA project director K Devdutta Sharma in the presence of Nahakpam Pood & Beverages, Freshies Fresh proprietor Nahakpam Shanta and MOMA project officer L Donald.
K Devdutta told media persons at the flagging off ceremony that MOMA has been taking keen initiative in promoting organic farming and many organic products of Manipur are being sold in different metro cities of India.
With MOMA's initiative and efforts of Freshies Fresh of Nahakpam Food & Beverages, the state is now able to ship organic Kiwi for sale in Patna (Bihar) and Lucknow (UP).
Freshies Fresh had earlier despatched organic Kiwi to Delhi's largest fruits and vegetable market at Azadpur.
He said that organic farmers of Manipur have found markets for their products and they need not worry for marketing their product anymore.
In his brief speech, Nahakpam Shanta said that there is no dearth of market for organic products and the farmers of the state have expanded their market to Patna and Lucknow after Delhi.
He said that Freshies Fresh had despatched around 7 metric tonnes of organic Kiwi to outside in the past and the franchise is planning to export two more metric tonnes of organic Kiwi very soon.
He appealed to farmers to produce organic Kiwi as much as possible as there is no issue for marketing such consumer-friendly edibles.
