MDA calls for arrest of perpetrator

Manipur Drivers Association (MDA) has appealed for immediate arrest of the culprit who allegedly attempted to take the life of the driver of a sand laden truck at Mayang Imphal Bengoon area on the night of October 26 .
This was stated by Khundongbam Sangitcharan, additional secretary, MDA during a joint press conference of Manipur Driver Association, All Manipur Gorkha Driver and Owner Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers Union, Senapati Truck Owner's Association, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union and All Manipur Gorkha Welfare Association held at Manipur Press Club this evening.
Speaking to media persons, Khundongbam Sangitcharan further claimed that Milan Khawas of Kangpokpi drove the sand laden Tata truck from Dimapur to unload the sand at Mayang Imphal.
Upon reaching Mayang Imphal Bengoon at around 8 pm, the driver was reportedly attacked by an unknown perpetrator with a sharp weapon on his neck, thereby leaving him gravely injured.
The driver was admitted to RIMS hospital and is presently undergoing treatment at RIMS ENT Ward and a complaint has been lodged to OC, Mayang Imphal, he added.
He appealed for the arrest of the perpetrator at the earliest and assured to provide assistance to the police in their investigation process.
