Kongpal Social Development Organisation cum Youth Centre (KSDO) celebrated its 40th Foundation Day at its Kongpal Khaidem Leikai complex, here, on Sunday.
As part of the celebration, Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba, who attended as chief guest, inaugurated a newly constructed community hall of the club, a badminton court, playground, flood lighting system and VIP shed.
In his speech as special guest of the function, CAF&PD minister L Susindro Meitei said that if an organisation can properly seek and utilise the funds for public welfare, development will follow suit.
He then said that a playground in the area is a rarity.
This will be the wealth for the future generation, he stated, while adding that the government's objective is to do all that is possible for the present and future generations.
Stating that CM Biren had repeatedly instructed to do work which would invite minimum public criticism, the minister said that the BJP government has been able to bring in huge changes in the state.
The government has not only helped the people to become independent but also ensure peace and harmony.
In addition, people with similar mindsets and thinking need to work together to ensure overall development.
He then assured of extending all possible help to KSDO in development of the area, while further seeking support from the people in this regard.
Mentioning about the recent visit to Bangladesh with MP Leishemba, Susindro informed that there are around 1.6 lakh Meitei, Meitei Pangal and Bishnupriya Manipuri residing in Bangladesh, who expressed their wish to visit Manipur.
Thus, he informed that a guest house would be constructed in Khurai, wherein they (Meitei, Meitei Pangal and Bishnupriya) could stay for free, while also exhorting Kshetrigao MLA Noorul to take up similar work in his constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Noorul Hassan stated that KSDO is one the 56 clubs in Kshetrigao, having a library with over 3000 books.
He then assured of assisting in expansion of the club through LADF, including setting up a VLF office in the area and urged the club to also assist in cultivating good sportspersons from the grassroots level.
Noorul further said that a cricket pitch will be constructed in the playground within November and urged the young people to focus on sports as well.
He then invited the Club to inform him of any assistance required, assuring of providing the assistance at the best of his abilities.
Presided over by KSDO president Nongthombam Kumar, the function was also attended by Imphal East MGNREGS CEO Ng Jogendra Khumancha; Heingang CD Block BDO Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba and Khurai Chingangbam Leikai GP pradhan L Kananbala as guests of honour.
