Imphal, February 04 2023:
While dismissing as baseless and malicious accusations made on the social media and other media outlets by Huyen Lalong Thang-Ta Association Manipur member Huidrom Dinachandra in connection with conferring of Padmashree Award to renowned Thang-Ta teacher Kakchingtabam Shanathoi Shanna, Thang-ta instructor Okram Manglem has termed such slanderous comments as uncalled for and signs of falsehood.
Addressing media persons at the Irilbung office of Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association on Saturday, Manglem informed that the Padmashree is the highest civilian award in India given by the ministry of home affairs with the recipients declared on the occasion of Republic Day celebration on January 26, 2023 .
While reminding all concerned Shanathoi Sharma, who is also Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang Ta Cultural Association director, was one among the two recipients of the award from Manipur, he described as lamentable that Huidrom Dinachandra, himself a senior coach of the Federation of Thang-Ta, passed such negative remarks and questioned the rationale of conferring the award to Shanathoi, in the media including social media.
Manglem opined that such comments are an attempt to tarnish the image of the renowned Thang-Ta teacher.
He further informed that the prestigious Padmashree Award cannot be won through nepotism as it conferred based on the contributions made by the individuals concerned in their respective fields.
Manglem also sought immediate intervention from the state's authority and all concerned in this regard and take up necessary actions.
