MP Sanajaoba raises state issues in Parliament

Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba enquired current status of railway project in Manipur and raised the issue of fake Aadhaar card in the ongoing Parliament session.
On the railway project, the MP demanded exact date of completion, if any, of the ongoing construction of Jiribam-Imphal rail line.
He also asked if there is any preparation for making reservation for Manipuris in recruitment for railways in Silchar-Imphal sector and whether fast trains like Vande Bharat could be plied in North East region including in Manipur? In another question, the MP also demanded details of cases relating to fake Aadhaar cards in the North East states and steps taken to prevent fake Aadhaar card generation.
Responding to the queries on Friday, Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Parliament that the 55km long rail line from Jiribam to Khongsang has been commissioned and operational now.
He also said that Jirbam-Imphal railway project has been delayed due to numerous factors including law & order, land acquisition, geological, topographical and climatic conditions and accordingly could not be completed as per the earlier target set.
However, efforts are being made complete the project as soon as possible, he added.
Regarding job reservation, the minister clarified that railways is a pan India organisation and any person from any part of the country can apply for any post in railways if eligible and there is no relaxation or preference given to any candidate from any specific region.
On fake Aadhaar card issue in the region, Union minister of state for electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar informed the House that Aadhaar is a very secure system and every eligible Indian is allotted a unique number as per Section 3 of Aadhaar Act, 2016.In case of fake Aadhaar card, appropriate actions can be taken as per the IPC by law enforcement agencies, he informed.
