Union Budget will bring social justice: CM

While claiming that the Union Budget-2023 is a propoor and will facilitate progress of women and youth, chief minister N Biren has appealed to people of the state to derive benefit of the budget.
The chief minister made this appeal while addressing participants of a seminar held on Union Budget-2023 organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh at JN Manipur Dance Academy, here, on Saturday.
Apart from the chief minister, the inaugural session of the seminar was also attended BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, Union minister of state for health & family welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar and professor Elangbam Bijoykumar.
Attending as chief guest of the inaugural session, CM Biren said that as India will be attaining 100 years of its independence in 25 years the Union Budget-2023 was prepared with a vision to make India a super power in the next quarter of a century.
Apart from giving thrust on infrastructure and defence, the budget also priorities progress of poor, women and youth.
To construct houses for the homeless poor, the budget increased allocation for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to 66 per cent.
Providing more opportunity to middle class families, no income tax will be levied up to Rs 7 lakh a year, he said.
Congratulating finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for tabling the visionary and pro-poor budget under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Biren said that the Union Budget-2023 laid the foundation for 'One earth, one family and one future'.
This budget will promote social justice, equality and provide equal opportunities to all sections of society, he added.
In his speech at the seminar, professor Elangbam Bijoykumar of MU economics department said that the Union Budget-2023 has long term plan and directed towards the right path.
Usually, budget in the past were prepared for five years but the present budget has vision for the next 25/30 years and this indeed is a significant change, he said, adding that the present government seems to have huge confidence in the budget.
The budget might not be able to bring immediate solution to a problem as it has long term objective but will move towards finding solution to a problem by detecting causes and rectifying the same, professor Bijoykumar observed, while adding that the budget not only focuses on job creation but also envisions achieving self-sustenance status India had before arrival of the colonial British.
BJP Manipur Pradesh A Sharda Devi also spoke on the benefits of the budget and appealed to experts to study the budget deeply so that people of the state could reap the benefit.
Health and family welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan also took part in the seminar.
