KIYG: State pugilists end campaign with 7 medals including 3 gold

Manipur made their mark in the Khelo India Games boxing competition by ending their campaign with seven medals, including three gold, while the girls' team finished runners-up.
On the concluding day, the state pugilists claimed three gold and one silver medals to wrap up their campaign with seven medals which included three bronze.
Manipur's trio of Mandengbam Jadumani Singh, Huidrom Griviya Devi and Thongam Kunjarani Devi triumphed in their respective gold-medal bouts while Chinglemba Moirangthem settled for a silver medal on Saturday.
Mandengbam Jadumani beat Vasman Ansari of Maharashtra in the final of the boys'48-51kg category as Huidrom Griviya bested Neeru Khatri of Haryana to claim the top podium honour in the girls' 52-54kg category, and Thongam Kunjarani (girls' 57-60kg) prevailed in her gold-medal bout against Anjana Thakur of Himachal Pradesh.
On the other hand, Chinglemba Moirangthem (boys' 6O-63kg) faltered at the final hurdle, losing out to Datt Gour of Madhya Pradesh, to take the silver medal.
The state's three bronze medals came courtesy of Leimapokpam Rahul Singh (boys' 71-75kg), Leichombam Lamnganba (boys' 51-54kg) and Melody (girls' 60-63kg).Manipur also lifted the trophy for runners-up in the girls' competition.
Meanwhile, Ng Angilika Devi bagged a silver medal in the Gatka competition after securing the second place in the girls' single soti individual event.
