Rs 292 cr earmarked for CMC nursing college: MoS Pawar

Union minister of state for health & family welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar has disclosed that a nursing college will be established at Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) in accordance with fund allocation in the Union budget to construct one each nursing college in 157 medical colleges established in the country since 2014.Disclosing this on the sidelines of the seminar on Union Budget-2023 held at JNMDA, here, on Saturday, Bharati Pawar said that the budget includes allocation of Rs 192 crore in respect of Manipur for National Health Mission.
In view of increase of MBBS seats at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal from 100 to 150, the Union budget has provided Rs 54 crore for the state government owned medical institute and Rs 560 crore for the Central government owned RIMS, Imphal.
She also said the budget has Rs 292 crore for Churachandpur Medical College as well.
However, the centre will bear 90 percent of fund and the rest by the state government, she added.
Apart from allocating Rs 84 crore under the 15th Finance Commission for Manipur, the budget also earmarks packages of Rs 21 crore for ECPRP-1 and Rs 98 crore for ECPRP-2 as emergency Covid response plan in view of expenses made in Co vid management, Bharati said and stressed the need for effective and judicious utilisation of the funds to move forward.
