Imphal, February 04 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMU-CO) president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang has stressed the need for concerted efforts and strengthening the bond between the Meitei and Meetei Pangal communities in the state.
He made the statement at the renaming function of All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AMMDO) to All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO), held at AMMPACO office, Hatta, here, on Saturday.
Nando Luwang continued that there is the need to improve the relationship among different communities of the state, in addition to promoting harmony and improving the conditions of the Meitei Pangal community.
The name, Meitei Pangal', is a reminder of the bond, which has existed between Meitei and Meitei Pangal communities since long time ago.
He said: "Meitei Pangals are the offspring of Meitei daughters and they have played an important role in developing the territory of Manipur and also during its freedom struggle.
This name brings us closer to each than the Muslim name" .
Regarding the renaming, Nando Luwang said that AMMDO will now be replaced by AMMPACO on the signboard, letter head and seal.
Although the name has been changed, its objective, roles and responsibilities along with the current office bearers will remain unchanged, he added.
The function was also attended by members of AMUCO and United Meitei Pangal Organisation (UMPO) .
