Covid claims one more life, newly infects 16

Covid-19 has claimed yet another life on Saturday as government bulletins reported 16 new positive cases out of 1126 samples registering positivity rate of 1.42 per cent against 1.50 per cent reported on Friday.
The fatality toll rose to 2114 after a fully vaccinated resident of Kakching district succumbed to the contagion.
Till date, the virus has claimed lives of 191 vaccinated persons of which 61 had received second doses.
In the last 24 hours, 23 persons were discharged from home isolation (15), RIMS (2) and CCCs (6) .
The active case came down to 268 out of which 101 (37.69 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 281 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 104 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
So far, the state has recorded 11,100 positive cases and 112 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 105 new positive cases and 2 fatality.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 161 and 5 respectively.
According to official reports, all the 16 fresh cases (8 male & 8 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (2) and other testing centres (14).The positive cases are from Imphal East (4), Imphal West (3), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (2) and Kangpokpi (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,36,888 (general population - 1,31,875 and CAPF personnel - 5,013).Number of recovered cases is 1,34,506 (general population 1,29,510 and CAPF personnel - 4,996) and number of active cases is 268 (general population - 258 and CAPF personnel - 10) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 235 D-type and 120 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours while 4842 vaccine doses were administered on Friday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 15,16,134, out of which 11,48,967 had received second doses and 60,858 precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48,644), Imphal East (30,393), Thoubal (10,128), Churachandpur (11,039), Kangpokpi (3124), Tamenglong (3468), Bishnupur (9811), Senapati (2481), Ukhrul (3260), Kakching (6874), Chandel (2705), Noney (1156), Tengnoupal (1196), Jiribam (1110), Kamjong (1034) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (702), Imphal East (510), Thoubal (188), Churachandpur (168), Kangpokpi (66), Tamenglong (17), Bishnupur (205)., Senapati (12), Ukhrul (50), Kakching (122), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (15), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,115 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,626 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,09,093 tests per million population against the national average of 5,50,328 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1126 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.42 per cent while the cumulative stands at 8.67 per cent.
