James Khangembam's film "Meiram - The Fireline" to compete in IDSFFK, 2022

James Khangembam's debut documentary film "Meiram - The Fireline" has been selected to compete in the short documentary section of the 14th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) 2022 .
The 14th IDSFFK 2022 is organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and slated to be held from August 26 to 31 at Thiruvananthapuram, a statement from Film Society of Manipur has informed.
Notably, "Meiram - The Fireline" is a 33-minute documentary on forest conservation at the Punsilok area of the Langol hills started by Loiya Moirangthem and his group of friends.
It is produced by James Khangembam who also handled the camera work while Mocha Kangjam was the sound designer and John Meitei took the helm as the editor.
According to James Khangembam, who is an independent documentary filmmaker based in Imphal, "Fireline" is a controlled fire to clear narrow strips of land at the periphery of the forest.
He started filming the documentary in 2017 and completed it in 2020 while post production work took another year and a half.
It is worth mentioning that "Meiram - The Fireline" was the opening film in the documentary section of the 17th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), 2022 .
It was also the official selection at Wildlife Vaasa Festival- International Nature Film Festival, Finland 2022 .
