Congress takes out Azadi ka Gaurav Yatra

As in other parts of the country, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) took out 'Azadi ka Gaurav Yatra' from Wangjing to Wangbal to commemorate the 75 th anniversary of independent India and to highlight the 'anti people policies' of the BJP, today.
Former Chief Minister cum CLP leader Okram Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, Congress MLAs and workers took part in the rally.
Before the commencement of the rally, the Congress leaders and supporters offered tributes to the memorial of freedom fighters at Khongjom Kheba Ching.
At Kheba Ching, Okram Ibobi said that Azadi ka Gaurav Yatra was launched in Manipur after paying tributes to the statue of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose at Moirang on August 9 .
He said that every Indian and Manipuri must acknowledge the sacrifice of 'our forefathers' and have a hand in saving the territorial integrity of the State and the country at large.
The rally was flagged off by the MPCC president from Wangjing Kodompokpi and it proceeded towards Thoubal DC office before culminating at Wangbal.
After flagging off the rally, K Meghachandra said that the rally was taken out to remind the people about the prominent role played by the Congress and sacrifices done by the great leaders in achieving independence.
He also stated that the Congress party will take out a similar rally in other parts of the State and listen to the grievances of the people such as price hike, unemployment and other issues.
The Congress party will continue to fight for the wellbeing of the people, he added.
A similar rally was also held from Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar upto Kakching Bazar, yesterday in the presence of senior Congress leaders such as Okram Ibobi, K Meghachandra, Sugnu AC MLA K Ranjit and others.
