Media workshop for women journalist concludes

The two-day long international media workshop for women journalists on the theme of 'Role of Women Journalists in Countering Misinformation & Disinformation in the Indo-Pacific Region' organised jointly by US Consulate General Kolkata, Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS), International, South Asian Women in Media (SAWM) and East West Center (EWC) at American Center, Kolkata concluded on Friday.
In the first session of the concluding day, SeeBoundless USA director Brooke Van Dam and founder Steve Johnson attended as resource persons and spoke on the theme of 'Visual tools for fighting misinformation and disinformation'; photojournalist and TED Fellow Smita Sharma on 'Photojournalism and the manufactured bias'; and Boom Live fact checker Divya Chandra on 'fact checking and cyber security for journalist'.
In the second session, a panel discussion moderated by Pickle Jar founder editor Vasanthi Hariprakash was held on the topic of Challenges to network building and cross border information sharing among journalist' and it was attended by The Logical Indian founding editor Bharat Nayak; News Sense fact check trainer Joydeep Dasgupta and Prothom Alo special correspondent Rogena Akter as speakers.
A group activity on the knowledge gained from the workshop and on strategy building was also conducted for the journalists who participated in the workshop and certificates were distributed in the valedictory function.
It may be mentioned that including the reporter of The People's Chronicle, three women journalists of Manipur took part in the workshop.
