Imphal, August 12 2022:
Haojalen Kipgen shone with bat and ball to guide RRCC, Churachandpur to a 3 wicket win over YAC, Yaiskul in the ongoing 6th MNCA Plate Tournament at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam.
Riding on brilliant bowling performances from Haojalen Kipgen (3/20 in 7 overs) and David Das (4/12 in 5.4 overs), RRCC bowled out toss winners, YAC for 77 in 26.4 overs and chased down the target in 18.4 overs at the cost of 7 wickets for the second win in as many as 4 matches (last Group B league match).
After electing to bat first, YAC who have lost two of two previous ties, started their games on a dismal note losing two wickets within 4.1 overs for 9 runs on the board as Sahil Kumar trapped Salam Raju (2) lbw and set up Abocha Laishram (4) catch.
After Louriyam Elan trapped Monjit Loushambam lbw for 19 runs, David Das dismissed Amit Singh Maisnam (5) and Dhaneshwor Singh Laishram (golden duck) in the 2nd and the 3rd delivery of the 17th over to reduce YAC struggling at 49 for 5.Star of the day, Haojalen then swung into action and snared three wickets in succession including Reebanta (25) and John Singh Oinam (3) in the 26th over to make it 77 for 8 .
David Das then swept the two lower order batters-Joychandra (3) and Ajanta Luwang (0) to put a lid on the YAC innings.
RRCC's chase was also a shaky affair as they lost 3 wickets for 32 runs in 7.2 overs as Moiranthem Rameshwor (golden duck) was bowled out by Ajanta Luwang and Lalboi Vaiphei (2) and Haojalen (21) were dismissed by Joychandra.
The slump continued as RRCC lost Louriyam Elan for 5 in the 11 th over before Rahul Kumar (12) and Thangkhopao (9) forged a 30 run partnership for the sixth wicket courtesy some extras and took RRCC to a sniffing distance of a win.
Sandeep Pukhrambam (2/ 12 in 1 overs) however, undone both of the batters in the 18th over before Dhaneshwor Laishram under P Kamzamang Zou for 1 in the next over.
YAC's bowling effort had little effect on the chase as Abishek Sharma (0) and David Das (2 not out) took RRCC to winning 78 with three wickets left to spare.
Eventually, Haojalen Kipgen who enjoyed a 3 wicket haul and added 21 runs off 24 balls was adjudged man of the match.
