Imphal, January 20 2023:
The chiefs and chairmen of villages located along NH-37 have strongly condemned the intimidation and harassment of Adipou, former general secretary LPOA at his residence in Konthoujam, Imphal West allegedly by a group of miscreants led by a Sub-Inspector of Imphal West Commando.
"It is surprised to learn that the miscreants led by a S.I along with his subordinates, dressed in civil, barged over the high concrete fence into the resident of Adipou and entered into his bedroom in the wee hour of January 19, 2023", claimed a joint release issued by village chiefs/chairmen residing along NH-37 .
It alleged that the miscreant took the former secretary without an Arrest Warrant and interrogated him while the vehicle carrying him was on the move.
"He was later dropped back at his residence without even taking him to the Police Station", it alleged while adding that LPOA is a legally upright Government registered association pursuing the road development on NH-37 .
"The S.I.and his company should clarify and justify their inhuman activities upon our innocent representatives/leaders within three days, with effect from January 21-24, 2023", it added.
Condemning the harassment of innocent public leaders without any rhyme or reason, the village chiefs/chairmen cautioned that they would launch a strong agitation if the persons involved in the act clarify before January 24 .
"The very act of the miscreant is infringement of human rights and invasion of personal privacy", it concluded.
