Sipuikawn win Rajeev Bakshi Memorial Football Tournament

The 17th Edition of Lt Col Rajeev Bakshi Memorial Football Tournament organised by Churchandpur Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) in collaboration with Hmar Trophy Organising Board, Parbung Came to a glittering and eventful end with a nail-biting final match between Sipuikawn amd Sakwardai FC from Mizoram on Friday at Parbung village, Pherzawl district.
The final match witnessed a wreath laying ceremony by Assam Rifles at Bakshi hill and locals from Parbung village at Parbung Mini Stadium, in memory of the brave heart.
The gala event also included various cultural programmes including coffin march, cultural songs and speeches from village authorities and CSOs remembering the gallant act of Lt Col Rajeev Bakshi.
The final of the tournament witnessed was an exciting contest with team from Sipuikawn lifting the coveted trophy in front of a huge crowd.
A cash prize of Rs 62000 was awarded to the winning team and Rs 36000 was awarded to the runners-up.
Lalthanpuia from Sakwardai was adjudged as best player, Jacob Hmar from Sipuikawn FC was adjudged as best goalkeeper and Lalcchhanchhua from Sinlung Hills was adjudged as highest goal scorer of the tournament.
All three individual award winners received Rs 2500 from the chief guest.
In addition, the players of the winning team and the second-placed team were provided with individual certificates for their participation.
The tournament finale saw a huge crowd build up at Parbung village including a huge number of locals coming from Sipuikawn village, according to a press release.
