Governor greets on eve of Statehood Day

Governor La Ganesan has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of the 51st Statehood Day, which falls on January 21."This momentous occasion is significant because while we get an opportunity to reminisce about the past achievements, we also rededicate ourselves to greater efforts for the times ahead", the Governor said in a statement.
He also commented on the progress the State has made in terms of literacy, spread of higher education and increase in a host of welfare measures during the past few decades.
The Governor urged people to make a resolution to reach new milestones in the years ahead and express their solidarity with the rest of the country to attain the National objectives of development through harmony, peace and unstinted fellow-feeling.
Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh also conveyed his best wishes on the occasion of 51st Statehood Day.
Stating that Manipur became a full-fledged State on 21st January 1972 under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act 1971, Th Basanta Kumar Singh wished prosperity happiness and well-being to the people.
Extending his warmest greetings, Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai urged the people to unite and take Manipur to greater heights of progress and prosperity.
