Ccpur JAC puts on hold strike plan

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against a hit-and-run-case at Torbung, Churachandpur has put on hold its proposed indefinite general strike following an agreement reached with the state government.
In a release issued by the JAC on Friday, the joint Action Committee against the Death of (L) S Ginthianlal Vaiphei (who succumbed to his injuries in a hit-&-run case which occurred at Torbung Village, Churachandpur District) along with philanthropic and students' organisations of the district and families of Ginthianlal met government representative Henglep MLA Letjamang Haokip late Thursday night at Imphal; and came to an agreement.
As per the agreement, the government will provide ex - gratia to the victim's family and^ensure the culprit (s) is/are booked and justice is delivered, while the JAC has decided to put its indefinite general strike call from the morning of Saturday (January 21) on hold.
However, if the law enforcement agencies fail to book the culprit, the agitation might be resumed anytime, cautioned the JAC.
In the meantime, the JAC expressed gratitude to MLAs Letjamang Haokip and LM Khaute (Churachandpur) for their timely intervention and efforts to bring justice to (L) Ginthianlal Vaiphei.
It also thanked KSO Churachandpur, KKL GHQ, YVA GHQ and units, ZSF GHQ, Zillai (Blocks, Units & GHQ), SYO GHQ for their efforts and support since January.
16.While appealing to the CSOs for their continued support until justice is delivered, the JAC expressed its appreciation to "the law enforcement agencies for what they have done so far" and urged them to book the culprit(s) as soon as possible.
