Discussion on "Future of sports in Manipur with fair play" organised

Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) organised a one-day discussion on "Future of sports in Manipur with fair play" today at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
Delivering the keynote address, Yambem Laba, member, Indian Mountaineering Foundation and former Chairperson in-charge, State Human Rights Commission Manipur stated that in a society that is rife with the issues of drug menace, gun violence, AIDS, corruption etc, sports present a ray of hope to youngsters.
A career in sports also presents the youth with a real opportunity to secure a job without involving in any underhanded tactics such as bribery, he said.
As a result, many youngsters of Manipur who are passionate about sports have emerged with a great hope for their future.
Yambem Laba said that sports and achievements of outstanding sports persons of Manipur act as an identifier for the State.
He also lauded many notable sportspersons of Manipur while adding that the State will produce many more in the future.
Stating that there are around 145 Manipuri footballers signed with clubs playing in the Indian Super Football League, Yambem Laba asserted that Manipur is not a small fry in the realm of sports.
He also mentioned the tradition of hosting Yaoshang Sports and the widespread participation of young and old people alike in the sporting events.
