Footballer Bala appointed Inspector

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday felicitated international football player Ngangom Bala and appointed her as Inspector in the Manipur police department.
Bala has been serving in the department as constable since 2010 .
The chief minister performed the pinning ceremony at his secretariat office here in Babupara on Friday.
Besides Bala, the chief minister also felicitated Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, who has been declared as the best football player of the national football team.
In a post on his Facebook page, the chief minister announced the appointment of Bala to the post of Inspector and honouring of Panthoi Chanu while informing that his government has been honouring sportspersons of the state for their achievements and bring ing fame to the state.
It is worth mentioning that Bala Devi is the first Indian to join a European Club.
On December 6, she became the first Indian to score in a professional football league in Europe.
She was also the first Indian to sign an 18-month contract with Scottish Club Rangers FC which has been recently extended by another 6 months.
Bala captained the Indian football team from 2015 to 2018 and was adjudged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Women's player of the year award in 2015 and 2016 .
