Manipur logs a high of 70 new Covid cases

Imphal, July 13 2022:
Giving a big heave to the upward daily tick of new Covid cases since the beginning of July, Manipur recorded a total of 70 new cases in the last 24 hours to take the number of active cases to 268, even as 18 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours.
On July 1, Manipur recorded 4 new cases and in a span of just one day short of two weeks, the figure has ballooned to 70 a day on July 13.The figure of 70 is also a big rise from the 59 cases recorded on July 12 .
With 70 new cases, the State also saw a slight increase in the daily test positivity rate with 15.8 percent as the 70 new cases were detected while testing 442 samples.
On July 11, the TPR was 15.5 percent, on July 12 it was 15.6 percent and on July 13 it is 15.8 percent.
With no death recorded in the last 24 hours, the number of fatalities due to the virus remain unchanged at 2120 .
The 70 new cases were confirmed while testing at RIMS (4), JNIMS (9), and other testing centres (57) .
The 70 persons who tested positive, all civilians, are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (32), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (3), Senapati (3), Ukhrul (1), Kangpokpi (1), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1), Churachandpur (3) and Chandel (1) .
All necessary precautionary measures and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
In the last 24 hours, 128 persons, all from home isolation were discharged.
With the addition of 70 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 1,37,613 including 5014 Central security personnel while the number of recovered cases is 1,35,225.This includes 5007 Central security personnel and the recovery rate has been pegged at 98.26 percent.
With the spike in the number of fresh cases in the last couple of days, Covid patients have started occupying beds at RIMS and JNIMS.
Out of the 14 beds available at JNIMS 11 have been occupied with only 3 left vacant.
At RIMS out of the 47 Covid beds 11 are occupied leaving 36 beds vacant.
On July 12, only 2966 Covid vaccines were administered taking the total to 29,90,278 inclusive of 12,68,765 second dose and 1,21,756 precautionary dose.
Overall Manipur has fully vaccinated 53.42 percent of the eligible population, which is a marginal increase from the 53.40 percent recorded on July 12 .
The hill districts, except for Chandel, continue to pull down the vaccination rate across the State.
A total of 133 D Type oxygen cylinders and 19 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
