CCpur, July 13 2022:
The Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (Suman) scheme was launched by DC Churachandpur Sarath Chandra Arroju on Wednesday at the conference hall of the district hospital's medical superintendent (MS) in the presence of CMO Dr Kimngaihching Simte as guest of honour and MS Dr Vanlalkungi as functional president.
Speaking at the event, DC Arroju informed that in addition to all other existing schemes like JSY and JSSK, the scheme launched on Wednesday was one of the components which will provide care for lactating women, besides child care.
The DC praised the health care workers of the district from top to bottom while referring to the recent Sant-ing village landslide where a Bolero Camper was washed down a deep gorge, leading to the death of two people.
He commended the health workers for their selfless dedication in providing medical service.
In his address, Dr Vanlalkungi expressed hope of making substantial reduction in terms of child birth related death and still-born babies.
She also informed that the state government sanctioned Rs 4,70,400 for use during the first 6 months under the Suman Scheme.
She, however, said that the amount sanctioned would be insufficient as the Churachandpur district is witnessing at least 100-130 children born, adding that the existing delivery kits stock to be used for normal and caesarean birth is also not compatible to meet the daily requirements.
Meanwhile, Dr Kimngaihching Simte announced that the district hospital has been selected out of 5 district hospitals and one community health centre listed to be covered under the Suman Scheme.
