Poula MIL toppers in BSEM exam felicitated

Poumai Literature Society under the aegis of Poumai Naga Union organised a felicitation programme for the Poula (MIL) toppers and letter marks scorers in the recently declared HSLC examination 2022 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM).
Karong MLA J Kumo Sha was chief guest of the event held at Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Vakho on Wednesday.
This is the first time Poula (Poumai language) was included in the HSLC examination after the state board recognised Poula as one of the first languages.
Kumo Sha, in his address, congratulated all the Poula toppers and letter marks scorers and asked them to be the ambassador of Poumai dialect.
Being the first batch for Poula MIL in HSLC examination, the toppers and successful students' names will remain etched in the history of Poumai community, he said while reminding the students as people from the community will look up to them even in the years to come they should work harder and read more Poula books.
The MLA also encouraged the young students of the community to inculcate the habit of reading books to enhance their knowledge.
Poumai Naga Union president Dailord Pao, in his speech, appreciated and congratulated all toppers of first batch Poula MIL and letter marks scorers for coming out with flying colours in the examination.
Stating that Poumai is one of the communities with the richest literature, he asked the gathering to do their bit as Poula has lots to do in research and invention of the Poumai language.
Former minister KS Benjamin Banee, in his address at the event, recalled the difficulties and rock blocks faced by Poumai Literature Committee during the 1960s.Poula newspapers should be started so as to popularise Poumai language, he suggested.
Altogether, 403 students appeared for the Poula MIL subject from 16 schools in Senapati-Karong area and 12 schools from different villages.
All the students passed the exam including 92 letter marks scorers and toppers.
Daziine Thaimaso (daughter of Thaimaso) of Lao Radiant School, who scored 98 marks in Poula subject, received the first cash prize amounting Rs 20,000 sponsored by Poumai customary court.
Two students, namely Catherine Danii Ve-mai (daughter of Danii) of St Anthony's School, Rikhumai Taphou and Pahriilou Pius Yonah (son of Weikho) bagged the second prize as both scored 97 marks.
An other two students shared the third prize as both scored 96 marks.
They are Veitinai Thaili (daughter of RD Thaili) of Daikho Va School, Senapati and Buhvei Daihrii (son of TS Daihrii) of Chilivai Baptist English High School, Lakhamai.
