In an effort to save the expenditure incurred by the state in buying fishes from other states, Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshor alias Keba released fingerlings at Tera Pukhri Achouba (community pond) on Wednesday.
According to Kunjakeshor, it is for the fourth time that fingerlings have been released in the community pond with the number exceeding over 4000 so far.
While pointing out that Patsoi constituency has 37 large ponds which could rear fish, the MLA said he has already contacted local clubs and meira paibi groups for rearing fish for which more fingerlings will also be released shortly.
He further informed that the initiative is being taken up for ensuring sufficient fish production in the constituency so that people of the constituency do not need to buy fish from other areas in the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba celebration.
While seeking public support in this regard, the MLA also urged the people to help check the annual expenditure of around Rs 400 crore for purchasing fishes from other states.
