After winning the toss and opting to bat first, PTCC made a slow start with Lanleiba (37 off 65 balls) putting in a cautious effort but wickets kept tumbling around him in regular intervals as Pravin Kumar removed Dhirendrakishor Naorem (10) and Chingakham Nikhil (17) and Lamnganba Nongmaithem scalped another two wickets- Ambison Salam (18) and Taorem Nelson Singh (1) to reduce PTCC to 97 for 4 in 17.1 overs.
After Max bowled out Lanleiba who had taken the PTCC tally past the 100 run mark for the 6th wicket, Karnajit Mayanglambam played his part well to add another 31 run before being bowled out by Max for the 9th wicket in the 29th over and completed his four wicket haul (4 for 37 in 6 overs).
In the two opening deliveries of the 27th over, Max had also bowled out Lisham Alish (4) and Sidharth H (0) to reduce PTCC to 154 for 8 .
Chabungbam Paikhomba then took the honour to round off the innings by taking out Sayonba N in the second delivery of the 30th over.
Needing 167 for the win, PCC Mayaikoibi got off to a bright start in the chase with Dilshan Oinam (31) and Akshay Mahto (26) creating the early fireworks before Max Warokpam let his bat do the talking and hit Chingakham Nikhil for a brilliant six in the 5th delivery of the 23rd over to bring PCC home with 7 wickets left to spare.
PTCC's Karnajit Mayanglambam picked two wickets in this innings but his effort was not enough for the team to contain Max Warokpam today.
PTRC, Patsoi will play MPA, Thounaojam in the second Group A league match tomorrow at the same venue.
