Vocational training for orphaned boys begins

Under the aegis of Department of Social Welfare, District Child Protection Unit, Imphal West launched a month-long vocational training course On Kouna Craft for orphaned boys at Destitute Children's Home, Tera Bazar on Wednesday.
The inaugural function was attended by CWC Imphal West ex-chairperson Thiyam Rajkishor; CWC IW chairperson Sanasam Geetabali; District Child Protection Officer Y Indramani; Meetei Phurup president Dr Shyamkumar Laishram; Destitute Children's Home, Tera Keithel chief functionary A Naobi Leima; Meetei Phurup treasury L Birahari and Vocational Training Course instructor Pangambam In-aocha (State Awardee) as presidium members.
Speaking with regard to the course, District Child Protection Unit, IW protection officer Moirangthem Sarda Devi informed that the vocational training course for the inmates of Destitute Children's Home, Tera; USDA Children's Home, Sagolband Memo Leirak; and Punshiba Open Shelter for Boys, was launched with the aim of exploring the talents of these kids, in addition to providing them self-employment opportunity, when the time comes for them to leave the homes.
She then recounted that similar vocational training courses on making soft toys for girls were also organised, while adding more such similar courses will be organised at different homes in Imphal West district in future.
