VDF Guardian Associations stage protest

Kakching District VDF Guardian Association today staged a sit-in protest at Langmeidong Keithel, Makha Leikai Community Hall, Kakching district demanding separate battalion for Village Defence Force (VDF), increase monthly honorarium and framing of VDF service rule & regulation.
Speaking to media persons, Kakching District VDF Guardian Association president, Haobijam ongbi Memcha stated that VDF personnel are carrying out their duties day and night for the welfare of the people like any other police personnel.
Expressing her anguish over the low honorarium paid to VDF personnel, she mentioned that the VDF personnel are facing difficulties to make ends meet with the increasing price of essential items.
She appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to consider the sufferings of VDF personnel and fulfil their demands at the earliest, failing which the association would be compelled to intensify their agitation.
A protester, Bina also urged the Government to give honorarium for 13 month to VDF personnel like other police personnel of the State.
Similarly, Jiribam VDF Guardian Association also organised a sit-in protest in front of Congress Bhavan office in Babupara, Jiribam district.
Placards with the slogans, "Revive salary as per the present situation", "Support the living right of VDF", etc were widely used at the protests.
