Hojai team accorded warm welcome at Moirang

The team from Hojai, Assam who are on a 10 day visit to Manipur met with the prominent members of Moirang Thangjing Lai Committee and also prayed at the Lai Thangjing deities today.
As per a statement by Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman, Publicity Secretary of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), the team from Hojai reached Manipur yesterday and they will be visiting the significant historic and religious places of the State to trace the roots of their forefathers and to pay homage to them.
The team from Hojai was accorded a warm welcome by Moirang Meira Paibee Ima Lup (MAMPIL) and Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL).

Extending solidarity to the team from Hojai which also includes young children, MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency, Thongam Shanti presented a traditional shawl to members of the team as a token of love and appreciation during a simple event held at the office of Moirang Kendra Progressive Front today.
Today's visit was led by Assistant General Secretary of AMUCO, Ningthoujam Lokendro Mangang and was accompanied by a team AMAWOVA.
Later they also sought blessings from Khuman Apokpa Apokpi deities at Thanga Karang where Laibung Sarat of Khana Chaoba Sintha Apunba presented a detailed account of an episode of history relating to the deities.
To pave the way to strengthen the bond between the indigenous communities, the team explored the Loktak Lake and surrounding areas and interacted with the locals residing in these areas.
The team will continue to stay at the office of AMUCO till July 18 and will tour the other historic and religious places in the State with the members of AMUCO along with the support from Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur and AMAWOVA.
It may be noted that the team from Hojai visited the sacred places in Kangla yesterday where they were welcomed and helped by Professor Paonam Gunindro, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture and Superintendent of Archaeology Department, added the release.
