Bhanu Jayanti celebrated at Mantripukhri

Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur celebrated the 209th birth anniversary (Bhanu Jayanti) of Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya at Kalibari Mandir compound, Mantripukhri on Wednesday.
Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur president Bhaawani Adhikari and associate professor Dheeraj Thapa of Lamka college, Churachandpur were respectively chief guest, functional president and guest of honour of the event, which was also attended by leaders of different social organisations like Gorkha Welfare Union, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union, Mantripukhri Gorkha Youth Club, Pangei Gorkha, Chingmeirong Gorkha, All Manipur Gorkha Ex-servicemen's Association, women societies and general public.
In his speech, Leishemba Sanajaoba recalled about the rich legacy of Gorkha queen Maharani Ishori Devi, who was not only a shrewd decision maker but also a great social worker.
He also promised to build a statue of his grandparents Maharaja Bodhchandra and Gorkha Maharani Ishori Devi at Kanglatongbi.
He stressed the need to preserve the rich culture, identity and traditions of Gorkha community.
