Imphal, October 22 2023:
Meitei Churches Advocacy for Peace & Development, Manipur (MCAPDM) has condemned in the strongest terms the arrest warrant issued to Mietei Leepun chief M Pramotchand by the Churachandpur CJM and instructing the Manipur police to bring him to Churachandpur.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Khuman Lampa Youth Hostel, here, on Sunday, MCAPDM spokesperson Hijam Brojen said that Pramotchand or Meitei Leepun had never indulged in any form of violence and involved in the present crisis.
There has also been no police case registered against him.
Therefore, it is very unfortunate that the Churachandpur CJP entertained the complaint lodged by Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and issued a non-bailable warrant for arrest and production of Pramotchand.
Brojen asserted that the arrest warrant issued against Meitei Leepun chief could be construed as an intentional personal attempt on Meitei leader Pramotchand and a conspiracy has been hatched between the Churachandpur police, KSO, Kuki public and the authorities concerned.
In the interview with Karan Thappar, the video of which has been watched by all and is still available for all to watch, there was no mentioned of driving out the Kukis from Kangpokpi.
What he meant was that if the Meiteis unite and fight together, Kangpokpi district can be controlled easily, he added.
Brojen also enquired as to why it be been ordered to bring Pramotchand to Churachandpur where the people there are violating all existing laws of the land.
So, there seems to be a hidden agenda behind the order.
Stating that the Meitei Christians are praying for restoration of peace in the crisis torn Manipur, he urged all not to speak or take up any actions/activities which could escalate the prevailing situation.
