CM talks tough on illegal immigration

Imphal, October 22 2023:
A team of Special Commando presently stationed at Moreh arrested three Myanmar Nationals at around 9 am today for stealing furniture and electronic items from the abandoned Meitei houses which were burnt down by the Kuki- Zo people.
A team of Special Commando, Khabeisoi while conducting a normal patrolling exercise in and around Moreh town under the supervision of Th Krishna- tombi, SP in-charge of Railways and Special Comman- do came across three persons stealing furniture and electric generators from the houses which were burnt down by the Kuki-Zo people.
The trio were detained by the commando personnel for verification and they were found to be Myanmar Nationals.

They have been identified as Khamkhenthang Guite (25) yrs s/o Paochinlen Guite of Namphalong Saw-bua II, Myanmar 2) Aung Mae (30) yrs S/o Mae Aao of Tamu Sawbua X, Myanmar 3) Aung Aung (25) yrs s/o Uoo Mao Mao of Tamu Sawbua XI.
They were arrested on the spot and many stolen items were also seized from their possession.
They were later handed over to Moreh police station.
As news of the arrest of the Myanmarese Nationals reached Imphal, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the State Government cannot remain silent on the issue of illegal migration from Myanmar.
"The State Government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration," said Manipur CM N Biren Singh.
The Manipur Chief Minister said that some "organizations do not want the presence of State forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmarese can be brought into the country" .
On the arrest of the three Myanmar Nationals, he said, "The trio is suspected of stealing furniture items/electric generators from the houses which were burnt down during the recent clashes" .
He added: "This happened when some particular organizations were objecting and protesting against the deployment of State police and commandos at Moreh town" .
