CPCM, MMWO demand justice for Sahir

The Committee on Peaceful Co-existence, Manipur (CPCM) and Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) have have vehemently condemned the unsolicited mob violence which led to the tragic demise of Sahir @ Sana (33) from Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai.
In separate releases, CPCM and MMWO informed that two Meitei Pangal drivers namely Sahir and Abir Khan of Sora along with two women belonging to the Meitei Community were lynched by a mob on October 19, 2023, at Takhel in Imphal East district on the accusation of carrying goods for the Kukis.
Due to the serious injuries sustained during the mob lynching, Sahir passed away on October 22 at Raj Medicity Hospital in Umphal.
Condemning the culture of mob justice prevalent in the State, CPCM and MMWO have expressed their disappointment over the present lawlessness and the increasing case of people taking the law into their own hands.
CPCM, MMWO also questioned the relevance of the State Government if it is unable to maintain law & order in the State.
CPCM & MMWO have appealed to all the CSOs and the public to come together and stand against the culture of mob justice which is a threat to the idea of a united Manipur.
Extending solidarity to the bereaved family, CPCM and MMWO further appealed to the Government to provide justice to Sahir and award befitting punishment to all the culprits of the tragic mob lynching incident.
