Imphal, October 22 2023:
In view of the present unrest in the state, many have appealed against celebrating Ningol Chakkouba and other festivals this year.
In a release, Peace Committee Wangkhei Kendra, Lamlai Students' Ideal Club and Young Progressive Club condemned the attack on Meeteis by Kuki militants and said that several innocent people have been killed, many families displaced from their homes and forced to seek shelter at relief camps.
It would be untimely to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba and other festivals including Diwali this year considering the plights of the displaced people.
